INCLUDING YOU: A Professional and Leadership Development Opportunity
Join Us! We want to include you in Including You, an interactive workshop series that focuses on practical communication strategies to help you become more comfortable in establishing inclusive work environments. The emphasis in these workshops is on the actual practicing of communication strategies to empower you and to diminish the stress that comes with inequity, exclusion, and discrimination.
Including You is different from any DEI training you have ever experienced! It was developed in partnership with the OCL and this version is specifically geared to school library staff. These workshops will help you identify and manage your implicit biases; prevent, identify, and address microaggressions; apologize and accept apologies; develop accountability strategies; understand your leadership role in promoting inclusion; and, overall, help you manage the uncertainty discrimination creates. By emphasizing practice, this series allows thoughtful communication to become second nature.
Format: Six 90-minute sessions and one PSLA pre-conference session. The sessions include small and large group discussions, self-reflections, and activities. Attendance is required for all sessions.
Workshop Dates/Times: Online, March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, April 7 from 7-8:30 PM; and, In-person, PSLA Pre-conference, April 21, 2022, 1-4 PM.

- "I definitely feel that there was professional and personal growth.”
- "The biggest impact personally from this training is that I have attended many trainings on this topic, and I've always felt like what I missed were tools, like actual actions, things that I could practice to improve my behavior and to recognize behaviors of my employees and others.”
